SRI funds in Luxembourg

This SRI theme fund invests in shares of international companies with a focus on environmental issues (mainly energy, water and waste), with no geographical restrictions. Similarly to Fortis’s other SRI funds, weapon manufacturers are excluded, i.e. - any company whose operations involve non-conventional weapons prohibited by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, such as nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, fragmentation bombs, mines, impoverished-uranium weapons; - any company whose revenue is generated by weapons in general for more than 5%. This sub-fund is part of Fortis I Fund, SICAV (FLF), a Luxembourg-law structure; it invests mainly in European shares and bonds. The fund, whose asset proportion in bonds and shares varies slightly depending on the economy and stock markets, has the following strategy: - The FLF Strategy Growth SRI EUROPE sub-fund is mainly composed of shares; - The FLF Strategy Balanced SRI Europe sub-fund tends to keep a balanced breakdown of bonds and shares; - The FLF Strategy Stability SRI EUROPE sub-fund is mainly composed of bonds. Issuers are evaluated on the basis of their commitments and practices in terms of sustainable development, with guidance from environment, social and governance (ESG) requirements. Moreover, the fund invests a minor part of its assets in small and medium-sized businesses whose products or services are strategic for sustainable development, such as renewable energies. Fortis L Fund Green Tigers invests in shares of Asian companies that offer solutions to local environmental problems. Since the environmental industry in Asia is not well covered by analysts and insufficiently considered by investors, Fortis intends to take advantage of that situation by adopting a bottom-up approach when selecting shares so as to identify companies whose strategy, technology and management help to solve environmental issues.

FLF Equity SRI World is the new name of ABN AMRO’s Sustainable Global Equity Fund following the merger of ABN AMRO’s management department into FORTIS IM; the fund invests in shares of international companies with no geographical restrictions. The assets are broken down in shares that are issued by companies whose commitment and practice in terms of sustainable development are guided by ESG requirements. Businesses involved in tobacco, alcohol, pornography, gambling, fur and nuclear energy (over 5% of sales) and do not strictly observe rules on animal testing or are linked to the violation of human rights are excluded.
